]]>Created in 1951, Orient Star has dedicated itself to producing high-quality, made-in-Japan mechanical watches, that are “shining stars” fusing traditional craftsmanship with the latest watchmaking technologies. Following the release of the Diver 1964 1st edition last year, the new Diver 1964 2nd edition pays tribute to this proud history once again by combining specific design elements of Calendar Auto Orient from 1964 with a modern, high-performance in-house movement. This full-fledged divers’ watch is compliant with the ISO 6425 standard.
Last year’s Diver 1964 1st edition was launched to celebrate Orient Star’s 70th anniversary and is a notable watch reflecting the brand’s unique history. The latest addition, the Diver 1964 2nd edition, is based on the Calendar Auto Orient, one of the company’s first divers’ watches released in 1964. The Calendar Auto Orient featured simple dot indices on a mirror black finished dial, hands designed for excellent visibility, a rotating bezel incorporating an anodized aluminum ring, and sharply defined lugs. The original Calendar Auto Orient equipped with an automatic movement was even more popular among watch aficionados than the hand-winding Olympia Calendar Diver*1 which served as the inspiration for the Diver 1964 1st edition.
While the new Diver 1964 2nd edition reflects the designs inherited from the original model, it features the same specifications enhanced for the Diver 1964 1st edition such as a screw down crown, a screw case-back, a dual curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and water resistance to 200 metres compliant with the ISO 6425 standard for air diving watches. It also features the in-house 46-F6 series caliber F6N47 automatic movement, which provides high accuracy and a power reserve of over 50 hours. In addition to displaying the time and date, the majority of Orient Star models have a power reserve indicator that shows the remaining running time of the movement, a rare function for divers’ watches.
The new Diver 1964 2nd edition is available with a black or green dial, each providing their own appealing look. The black version is a faithful tribute to the Calendar Auto Orient with a mirror black finish on the dial and a matching shiny black bezel surface. The glossy black colour gives this sporty divers’ watch a dressy look, fitting in perfectly with current lifestyles and trends that see such watches being worn on any occasion with any style of clothing. The other colour option is a matte green dial with a matching matte green bezel surface. The green gradation on the dial is inspired by the Ryusendo Cave in Iwate Prefecture, Japan, thought by some to be the most beautiful and mysterious limestone cavern in the world. This model reflects the spirit of the divers who dive deep into the underground lakes to survey the cave and unlock its mysteries.
The case is made of high-quality stainless steel (SUS316L) and its relatively compact 41-mm diameter makes it ideal for everyday use. The five-piece link metal strap is made of the same SUS316L stainless steel, providing an unmistakable presence on the wrist as well as a comfortable fit. A divers’ extension structure and the trifold deployment buckle with push button and security latch are included, making the watch practical to use when playing sports or walking around town. The pyramid-like ridges of the additional silicon strap echo the design of the metal band of the original Calendar Auto Orient, providing a different look to enjoy.
The two new models of the Diver 1964 2nd edition deliver features of a full-fledged divers’ watch as well as designs steeped in the heritage of Orient Star. Both will be sold as regular models. These new models are ideal for established fans of Orient and Orient Star watches, watch enthusiasts with an interest in heritage design models, as well as those seeking their first fully fledged divers’ watch.
Orient will introduce four new elegant models to its Contemporary Classic Collection. The international best-selling series now includes a long awaited 38mm diameter case perfect for everyone. Say hello to the new Contemporary Classic Version 7, also known as the AC0M 38.
The Contemporary Classic series features traditional design features such as a convex dial and domed glass. The series has been a consistent best-seller over the last decade in 70 countries and regions around the world. Until now, they featured mostly 40.5mm case diameters; however these latest models feature a more compact 38mm case.
The new AC0M 38 models are powered by Orient’s automatic in-house 46-F6 series caliber F6724 movement providing high performance and reliability. The beautiful finishing on the movement can be admired through the see-through case back, and the domed glass and convex dial with simple bar indices create a vintage feel. The dial is available in classic beige as well as tasteful black and white versions that complement the simple design of the dial perfectly.
The new models provide an understated, elegant presence on the wrist to accompany any style.

]]>ORIENT is launching two new models to its vintage-inspired AA08 watch models. The new models add an on-trend vintage touch to ORIENT’s signature color gradation dials. The fresh colors and striking accents add to their appeal, making them the perfect pieces for all occasions.
Diver design models are an important part of ORIENT’s 70-plus year history, representing everything that is ORIENT since they were first launched in the 1960s. The new models offer casual and fashionable designs that can be worn for any occasion, with the same basic specifications as the current range, such as sapphire crystal, enhanced water resistance to 200m, and ORIENT’s automatic movement that provides stable high accuracy and reliability.
These models feature the distinctive bi-color rotating bezel and ORIENT’s signature color gradation dials. There are two dial colors to choose from: burgundy gradation and a limited-edition blue gradation of just 2,800 pieces. The limited edition model is complemented by gold-colored hands. On the aluminum plate of the bezel, two different colors share borders separated at the triangular and 15-minute markers: burgundy and brown for the regular model, and blue and black with a gold fringe for the limited edition. The Luminous Light with a sepia-toned vintage effect on the hands and dot indices provides the well-worn look of a watch that has been used and loved for many years. These details, together with color gradation dials create an eye-catching vintage look.
]]>What makes a spring watch, a spring watch? Is it the bright dial colors? Is it comfortability and ease of wear? Will it survive a sudden rain shower? A bit of everything, we say. And we've round up our favorites to point you in the right direction.
AC00 Version 6 - A must-have this spring. Between the shimmering sunburst blue dial and mesh bracelet, the AC00 will be sure to catch some eyes when you're out in the sun. While also available in Champagne and Green, the AC00 Version 6 is a truly versatile piece worthy of any collection.
AK00 Version 3 - Spring-time is the natural time to add some textures and patterns to your wardrobe. The runner up to our inaugural Orient Challenge Tournament, the RA-AK0008S10B features a guilloche pattern that you can get lost in for days. Speaking of days, this watch also features a day of the week and calendar complication, which is just one many fine details this watch has to offer.
Symphony IV - The Symphony IV has all of the features and classic stylings you've come to expect over the years including a sapphire crystal which was previously only available on the very limited Symphony II. With its Roman Numeral markers, the Symphony IV also mixes up the formula of what you can expect from the Symphony collection.
Helios - Not every watch we're wearing this spring has a pop of color. Sometimes we like to wear something a bit on the muted side, like the gray Helios. Don't let the neutral look fool you though; the Helios also sports an ombre finish on the dial which makes it look great from any angle.
Kamasu - We couldn't write an article about what we're wearing this spring without mentioning the winner of the first ever Orient Challenge Tournament. With its sapphire crystal and tough case the green Kamasu can stand up to anything you throw at it. The long lasting luminous hour markers and bezel pip will take you from your daytime activities well into the night.
]]>First created in 1951, ORIENT STAR has dedicated itself to producing high-quality made-in-Japan watches, to create mechanical time pieces that are “shining stars” fusing traditional craftsmanship with the latest watchmaking technologies. The Diver 1964 model reflects this proud history, reproducing the original design of the Olympia Calendar Diver*1 model, released in 1964, with an upgrade to contemporary diver’s watch specifications. This exceptional model combines a vintage design with ORIENT STAR’s latest high-performance in-house movement.
Sporty, relaxed styling has a broad appeal regardless of age, and divers’ watches and vintage designs have become a worldwide trend. The Diver 1964 is based on the Olympia Calendar Diver launched in 1964 after several years of development work for divers’ models that started from the early 1960s. It joins the ORIENT STAR Sports Collection, established in 2019.
The Diver 1964 reproduces the same features of the original model: a rotating bezel made of solid stainless steel, three-dimensionally cut indices, an arrow-shaped hand, and a case shape with sharp lugs, while offering significantly improved water resistance compared to the original model’s 40 meters (at the time, ISO standards were not established for watches). This new model’s water resistance has been upgraded to 200 meters - compliant with ISO standards for air diving watches. Refined qualities such as a screw down crown and screw case back, a dual curved sapphire crystal with a non-reflective coating, are also required to meet the standard of authentic diver watches.
The mechanical movement has also been upgraded. In contrast to the hand-wound movement in the original 1964 model, this new model has a contemporary automatic movement for increased usability. This in-house caliber F6N47 provides stable high accuracy and 50-hour power reserve. Another new feature is the indicator which shows the power reserve’s remaining running time. Most ORIENT STAR models come with a power reserve indicator as standard, however it’s rare to find this feature on diver watches.
The comparatively compact 40.2 mm diameter case, the pure steel colored rotating bezel, and the black dial create an understated look, making it ideal for everyday use. The metal bracelet uses the same high-quality stainless steel (SUS316L) as the case, providing a substantial presence and a comfortable fit. The trifold clasp comes with push button, security latch and diver’s extension, making the watch practical to use for sports activities and urban life.
The Diver 1964 model is available in a worldwide limited edition of 500 pieces and each watch has a serial number engraved on the case back.

AA08 Diver – In the sea of diver watches in our Sport collection, the AA08 Diver line offered something new: an antique inspired look featuring weathered hour markers and hands, a rich dial gradient, and a two-toned, high gloss bezel insert. But even with all of these new eye-catching features this new collection is still of the Orient diver lineage, with the technical spec to perform in adverse conditions.
AC0H Pilot’s Watch – Our pilot’s watch is back and better than ever, now available on several different straps. We incrementally beefed up the case, upgraded the movement, and modified the dial to look a little less cluttered. The result is a cleaner design that’s easier to read and a robust watch that can handle whatever the winter season has planned.
Contemporary Classic Version 4 – Even when the winter weather can make the day seem dreary, the watch on your wrist doesn’t have to follow suit. The Contemporary Classic Version 4 is a prime example of how you can fit yourself with a burst of color. It features the signature domed architecture and unique strap choices, including a camel-colored suede and a blue-tinted leather.
AC0E Classic – Sharp looks would be an understatement, especially when it comes to this classic piece. The AC0E features clean lines, fantastic legibility and practical functionality. It is available in an array of different colors, from a reserved flat black, to a brighter blueish green. It’s a no fuss watch that can be worn everyday or dressed up when you’re in a pinch.
World Map (Revival) – This release of the original 1969 World Map was part of the Revival collection that celebrated the brand’s 70th anniversary. Orient got as close to a 1:1 reproduction as it could, including the map on the dial, the inner rotating bezel, fluted outer bezel, day and date functionality, and polished cushion case. But in true Orient fashion, the movement was updated to the caliber F6922.
]]>ORIENT STAR is launching three men’s Classic Semi Skeleton models with new designs that feature a fresh, modern look.
The dials feature relaxing, gentle tones inspired by the soft colors of nature. The design of the Classic Semi Skeleton models offer a partial view of the movement, and their designs evoke a level of sophistication unique to mechanical watches. While the coloring and details of previous models focused on traditional styling, these latest additions provide something different, with fresh designs and a modern look. The concept for the new model designs is “gentle sunlight”, and the dial colors are inspired by the gentle light of the sun shining upon water, plants, and forests. Beautiful shades of champagne gold, forest green, and pale aqua, reflect feelings of gentleness and happiness found in everyday life and natural scenery.
The new models share the same classically curved dial featuring stylish embossed index markers, delicate roman numerals, and spade shaped hands. They feature a domed mineral glass crystal, and a rhinestone set in the crown. A sophisticated leather strap with a French turned-edge finish completes the look of each watch.
The fresh new matching design, high-quality mechanical movements and accessible price point make them particularly appealing additions to the ORIENT STAR collection.

There are enough rules in life...RIGHT?
Of course, everyone has an opinion on what looks fashionable. – and no doubt
what works for one doesn’t always work for another, or what works for one could be considered too pedestrian or too avant-garde by another.
With wristwatches, it’s no different. Some are fans of a watch that makes a bold and modern statement, others love a watch that is more understated and classic.
When it comes to watch culture and fashion there have always been rules.
Rules are a funny thing though.
We tend to think that they can be bent or broken because maybe (just maybe) the perfect look or definitive statement for you might be the unconventional.
We prepared “The Wise Men’s Guide to Style” to help you find the perfect Orient watch for anyone no matter their fashion preferences. Our hints, tips, and tricks will help take your look to the next level OR help you pick that perfect gift this holiday.

Timeless classics:
ROSE GOLD
This holiday season ROSE GOLD with models such as our AK00 Version 3 brings sophistication to styling.
Rose gold offers a warmer color than the traditional gold, while never sacrificing quality. Some rose gold tones are more understated but they nonetheless possess the same kind of pop of color that can make a statement. We find it a perfect pairing with that daring suit jacket or even go unconventional and dress up your jeans and tee shirt vibe with a bold and brash look.
Pairing tip: Black, Denim, White, Red, Purple, Blue, Orange even Pink.
GOLD
Wise men know Gold when they see it.
Traditionally, gold pieces were recognized for their elegance and class and reserved only for the most formal. We feel differently as there are plenty of innovative ways gold can balance or contrast your favorite looks with a stunning timepiece. For a more modern, fashion-forward look, gold can be used as an accent on the dial and hands to subtly contrast against a silver case. We show our best sampling of gold with our World Map Revival and AG00 Open Heart bringing that elevated game. They're an easy choice for those looking for a little more flash.
Pairing tip: Gray, Forest Green, Light beige, Royal Blue, even Navy Blue
SILVER
The silver bells are ringing in the holidays, but a silver watch will ring all year-round.
A stainless steel Sport Collection watch or Classic Collection piece is incredibly versatile for any lifestyle. Polished, brushed, or even bead blasted, they're perfect for a day out on the water or a night out on the town. Models like the Kamasu and Helios are a couple of quality highlights. Sometimes you may want to swap out the band on your watch for a steel bracelet because why not! Orient’s 316L steel bracelets are built with the same high-quality standards that we put into all our watches. Style is never sacrificed either; you'll find excellent value and the highest quality all captured in a striking look. A perfect addition to any wise man’s collection.
Pairing Tip: A perfect watch for a companion bracelet or beads, Sporty, Classic. Contemporary it doesn’t matter Silver goes with everything. Just remember to match your belt buckle.
LEATHER
Be it pebbled, textured, matte, or suede there is just something about leather and that something has stood the test of time when it comes to fashion and wristwatches. Orient’s genuine leather bands are the perfect accessories. Choose from a wide assortment of styles such as the AC00 Version 2 for a formal event or if its just a casual night out or in, take a look at our AA0C Sport.
Best of all, when leather is broken in and aged it begins to take on a personality all its own.
Oh… and you can't beat the comfort - Leather is a perfect choice and gift for all seasons.
Pairing Tip: Leather - is great with ….. LEATHER! Most “style guides” say match that belt and those shoes. Of course, they do not have to be exact texture colors, etc….But try to match lights with lights, mediums to mediums, darks to darks.
Modern Twists:
RUBBER
Rubber is a unique alternative to metal or leather bands. Incredibly versatile and strong, it’s the perfect fit for an active lifestyle. It’s stretchy so it’s super comfortable and lightweight like your favorite pair of sweats... That doesn’t mean it can’t be classy. Sometimes the perfect wrapping for your favorite sport-watch is a quality rubber strap especially if you are wanting to switch up your style a bit.
Being water-resistant our bands are the perfect pairing for our Kanno and our M-Force AC0L watches. Rubber is an excellent no-maintenance material - and perfect for an active lifestyle.
Pairing tip: Sharks, Rays, Tees, Sunshine.
FABRIC
Fabric straps have become a fashion-forward trend for all wise men and women! A Nato or Perlon strap is at home on your wrist during an exciting adventure through the wilderness as it is making a subtle statement on your wrist when you are grabbing a cup of coffee from your favorite roaster with your friends. There is no better on-off watch for those constantly looking forward than our AC0H Pilot’s Watch and our AK04 Field Watch. The Orient Fabric band watches are hard to beat for rugged quality and versatility.
Pairing tip: Your favorite casual overcoat, a comfy henley, modest dark colors. Pro Tip: tuck in the excess strap and fold into the keeper. Dare to be you!
COLOR
Look deep into the watch face…. There is just something about that classic blue color, especially if it's on an Orient watch!! While white and black and cream are great stapes of any collection. There is something about being a little more daring and in your face. A red, a green, or even the classic Orient two tone watches are a sure-fire way to make a bold statement while still looking great!
Our watches such as Kamasu and Kanno show that just a little pop of color on the wrist is a real conversation starter and it’s all you need to take your style to the next level. No matter your style, Orient Watch is the perfect pairing for you!
LUME
There is nothing more upsetting than falling in love with a beautiful timepiece only to discover that the lume paired with the piece is dim and poor quality. Lume is both a functional element as well as a beautiful accent on any watch. Orient watches provide quality lume that doesn't bite into the pocketbook. With daring style and easy-to-read dials. ]]>Diver design models are an important part of Orient’s 70-plus year history, representing everything that is Orient since its launch in the 1950s. These latest models feature the same incredible such as sapphire crystal, enhanced water resistance to 200m, and Orient’s mechanical movement that provides stable high accuracy and reliability. However, in contrast to Orient’s existing traditional styles, the new models offer more casual and sporty designs that can be worn on any occasion.
The new models stand out thanks to their distinctive two-tone rotating bezel and Orient’s signature color gradation dials. On the aluminum plate of the bezel, two different colors share borders separated at the triangular and 15-minute markers. There are four dial colors to choose from: grey, green, blue, and a limited-edition burgundy, serving as striking accents to the bi-color bezel. The luminescent material with a sepia-toned vintage effect on the hands and dot indices provides the well-worn look of a watch that has been used and loved for many years. These details, together with color gradation dials create an eye-catching vintage look.
A limited edition of just 2,000 pieces, featuring a burgundy gradation dial, bronze-colored case, and brown leather strap is the most impressive model reflecting a truly vintage look down to the finest detail.
]]>AK03 Version 5 – In comparison to models that came before it, the Version 5 features a cleaner dial layout and a more elegant feel, all without compromising its extensive features. Available in five distinct colorways including rose gold and a warm blue.
AC00 Version 6 – Can you believe it’s been nearly 10 years since the first Contemporary Classic piece was released? The collection has consistently improved upon and updated, and this Version 6 is no difference, with models being offered with a mesh bracelet and a fresh new green dial.
Symphony IV – A complete redesign of the dial has breathed new life into this popular collection. Its legibility has been increased with addition of large Roman Numeral markers. Now with a sapphire crystal and 4 different colorways available, style and resilience is now at your fingertips.
AK04 Field Watch – We’re not sure there’s another watch in our collection that screams autumn more than our AK04 Field Watch. It not only features robust functionality (day, date, 24 hour indicator, 100m water resistance), but it’s wrapped in classic fall hues such as dark blue, dark green, and khaki.
King Diver Revival – If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That’s the approach we took when we remade this classic piece that first appeared in 1965. Beside an upgraded movement, we’ve kept the original design intact, complete with dual crowns and day and date displays.
]]>Even with the advent of advent of modern technology, many people consider wristwatches to be valuable tools. Movement complications often allude to features, but that’s not always the case. Your watch and do more than just tell the time! Did you know that it can be used as a compass? Here’s how.
It’s important to note the following:
Here’s how to do it if you are located in the northern hemisphere.
Here’s how to do it if you are located in the southern hemisphere. It’s a little bit backwards.
ORIENT STAR announces the launch of two new Mechanical Moon Phase watch models from its Contemporary Collection featuring mother of pearl dials. Celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2021, the new models join the popular ORIENT STAR flagship, Mechanical Moon Phase, combining innovative designs with high-performance in-house mechanical movements.
Since its birth in 1951, ORIENT STAR has strived to create mechanical watches that are “shining stars”. Throughout its history, the brand has produced high-quality made-in-Japan watches that combine traditional craftsmanship with the latest watchmaking technologies.
The Mechanical Moon Phase, which first launched in 2017, features ORIENT STAR’s distinctive design elements, including a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, the semi-skeleton window at 9 o’clock that shows the inner workings of the mechanical movement, and the moon phase display at 6 o’clock with a date hand. Creative designs incorporating these three unique features have received high acclaim from industry professionals, and have become established favorites among watch aficionados. In 2020, an unconventional new model was released from the Contemporary Collection. The unique design was inspired by the concept of viewing the Earth from behind the Moon. The moon phase display at 6 o’clock represents the Moon and the semi-skeleton window at 9 o’clock as the Earth.
The latest models feature mother of pearl dials, drawing on the natural patterns of pearl oyster shells with their iridescent colors and depth to bring out a three-dimensional aesthetic. The beautifully colored dials, a distinctive feature of ORIENT STAR watches, give a unique luster, further reinforcing the overall concept of “the universe”. The designs of the ORIENT STAR 70th anniversary models take particular inspiration from the image of a nebula, providing a striking representation of the brand’s worldview—to produce watches that are shining stars.
The green limited-edition model of 700 pieces worldwide has a serial number and special 70th anniversary design on the case back. The green hues of the mother of pearl dial, lighter in the middle and darker at the top and bottom, contrast with the dark green power reserve indicator, semi-skeleton window, and moon phase display that provide an incredible sense of depth, inviting the wearer to explore the vastness of outer space. The regular model features a luxurious white mother of pearl dial with a matching white power reserve indicator, semi-skeleton window, and moon phase display accented with striking blue hands, reminiscent of heavenly celestial patterns. These two designs are encased in sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coatings on both sides, which provides a clear view of the entire watch dial. Both models have ceramic accents on the side of the crown as a stylish design feature.
The two models are powered by in-house automatic mechanical caliber F7M63 with 50-hour power reserve known for its stable precision and reliability. The intricate movement can be viewed through the transparent sapphire crystal case back. The case has water resistance to 10 bar and, together with the bracelet, uses high-quality SUS316L stainless steel with superior corrosion resistance. The modern case with its tasteful design details includes “Sallaz” polishing, creating a smooth mirrored surface which reflects without distortion. The result is a powerful edgy look with a contemporary feel, making these models ideal for any occasion whether business or casual.
]]>After a long hiatus, the M-Force collection made a return this year. The first release was designed to tackle the ocean and this second one is built to thrive on land. While they couldn’t be more different from each other, they are bound by the standard M-Force design architecture that protects them from the elements.
Let’s tackle the new M-Force AC0N. This second release from the latest M-Force generation is designed for adventuring outdoors. Sturdiness and toughness are integrated into every design detail, creating a completely different feel compared to the preceding diver’s model. Unlike previous versions of the M-Force, the M-Force AC0N does not have a diver’s bezel. Instead it features a distinctive bidirectional compass bezel. The letters indicating the north, south, east, and west directions are printed in the new typography reserved for this third generation of M-Force.
The dial features luminous hour markers that resemble a an off-road tire tread. The hour and minute hands mimic this design with a cutout look. As expected from the M-Force collection, the luminescence on the dial is bright and long lasting.
The large 45mm case features a shroud that acts as a crown guard on one side and a bezel guard on the other. The crown is protected by a scratch resistant sapphire crystal that has been treated with an anti-reflective coating. A screwed-down crown reinforces the 200m water resistance rating. The in house caliber F6727 is housed in a proprietary casing structure designed for shock absorption. It consists of a movement holder to reduce horizontal shifting and secure stability when the watch is subjected to external shocks, a boost up spring to protect from vertical shifting, and a collet to reduce shock-induced displacement of the hair spring attached to the balance wheel.
]]>For nearly 10 years, the Contemporary Classic Collection has been comprised of some of our most popular and top-selling models. This naturally led to the development of additional variations over the years. To date, there have been ten versions across two generations. Today, the Contemporary Classic family grows. Introducing the Contemporary Classic AC00 Version 6.
The newest addition features a completely new design that features a Roman number 12 and 6 at the top and bottom of the dial. With spear-tipped hands and a minutes/seconds counter along the flange, this design does not take much inspiration from the ones that came before it. However, you can count on this new AC00 to feature its signature domed crystal and dial. This has been the through line for the entire collection since it began.
The Version 6 measures in at 40.5mm across and 12.3mm thick. It is powered by the workhorse F6724 caliber movement which is automatic, hand-winding, and hacking. It is available in 5 variations and 4 colors. The collection also marks the return of the mesh bracelet to the Contemporary Classic collection.

]]>While the new Symphony IV borrows from the iterations that came before it, it debuts an entirely new look for the collection. Up until now, the Symphony line up has always featured stainless steel bar hour markers. This new model utilizes bar hour indexes in conjunction with bold Roman Numerals at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. With the new Symphony IV you get the same kind of sophisticated feel, but just with a new design.
Dimensions-wise, everything remains unchanged from the Symphony III: 41.6mm across and 11.7mm thick. They even feature the same Orient caliber F6722 movement which can be seen through an exhibition caseback. But this new model features something that the Symphony II did: a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
The new Symphony IV is available in three colors (Champagne, White, and Blue) and two strap configurations (Stainless steel bracelet and leather strap).
]]>As most are aware, Orient is reproducing and re-releasing many vintage models as a part of their 70th Anniversary celebration. We are pleased to announce that the Revival Collection is growing with the addition of the Orient World Map watch.
The Orient World Map was first released in 1969 and got its name from the map that was illustrated on the dial. It bore the TriStar emblem as well as “World Diver” at the bottom. As with the rest of the Revival Collection, Orient got as close to a 1:1 reproduction as it could. This Revival model features the map on the dial, the inner rotating bezel, fluted outer bezel, and day and date functionality, and polished cushion case. Noticeably different however is the day pusher at the three o’clock position. Because this newly reissued model uses the Orient Caliber F6922 movement, the crown is used to set the day and the date.
It is important to note that the World Map was never a GMT, Dual Time or World Time watch. If it were, that would require the inner bezel to move in conjunction with the time as it moved forward. Instead, the World Map watch utilizes the simplicity of a free-moving bezel to find the time in a different part of the world. With the assistance of the Greenwich Mean Time Zone system (GMT) and a little bit of geography, the wearer can determine the time in a different zone by rotating the inner bezel.
The watch measures in at 43.5mm with a thickness of 13.9mm. True to the original, it features a domed mineral crystal and polished case. It features 200m water resistance as a nod to its “World Diver” roots. It is available in three new colors, including white with gold trim, metallic green and metallic blue. The model that bears the original color dial from 1969 is also available as a limited edition. It is limited to just 1,200 pieces worldwide. Each piece is individually numbered and each limited edition watch comes in a special commemorative box.
]]>So we’ve spoken about how to change your watch’s strap, how to adjust your metal strap, and even how to care for your watch bands. But here’s one thing we haven’t covered yet: a rundown of the straps themselves! And with summer just around the corner, you might want to consider a strap swap depending on what you have planned. And sorry in advance: we don’t have any tips on how to avoid the “watch tan”. In fact, we think it’s kind of a badge of honor.
Stainless Steel Bracelet – The summer standard. This comes equipped on a majority of our sport watches (think Kamasu and AA02 Diver) for good reason. If they’re made of 316L steel like ours, these bracelets are water resistant, corrosion resistant, and reliable at high temperatures. They are easy to clean and aren’t prone to soaking up or retaining any kind of sweat after a thorough rinse. They can be a little heavy on the wrist compared to other strap options, but some wearers prefer the heft.
Leather/Suede – Probably the most stylish of the bunch and an excellent choice for any event, both formal and casual. Leather and suede straps however are prone to absorbing sweat and water, and in the heat might feel a little uncomfortable. They are able to be cleaned, but sometimes some of that mustiness can linger.
Rubber – As you might have guessed, these were built for life on the water and are made from materials like silicone and polyurethane. They’re available on watches like the Kanno and M-Force AC0L and are as easy to clean as they are to put on. They’re incredibly water resistant, lightweight, and above all, super comfortable.
Nylon/Cloth – These popular straps feature a single loop through the spring bars of your watch. They are a casual, lightweight alternative that has been around since the 1970s. NATO and Perlon straps are the two common styles. You can find them on our RA-AC0H pilot watch and the ever-popular RA-AK04 field watch.
Mesh – It’s technically a stainless steel bracelet, but the difference is that there are no links. You get all the same capabilities of the steel material, but with added comfort on the wrist. Additionally, they’re easier to size! On a watch like the RA-AC0E, you’ll find a simple sliding clasp system that allows for easy adjustment.
