Back in Action: The Dyno Alarm Chronograph FTD09004B and FTD09005W

_DSC1774 - CopyChronographs are essentially stopwatches integrated into a wristwatch. They were developed initially as a tool to time various sporting events and activities. With that purpose, chronographs typically had a sporty style to them, though this changed and evolved over time. Dressy and classic styled chronographs became prominent and popular over time. Which leads to the Dyno, a chronograph with classic watch styling and sport functionality.

The Dyno comes in two different references, but the functionality is the same; FTD09004B0 and FTD09005W0. The 4B has a black dial mounted to a black leather band while the 5W has a white dial mounted to a brown leather band. Using an all black dial with black leather band gives the 4B a very dressy look conservative look, while the white dial matched to the brown leather band allows the 5W to have a casual dressy feel to the watch.

Inside the Dyno is the quartz caliber KFA00 movement, whith features that include a chronograph, date, slide ruler, and importantly the alarm complication. The dial is set up in tri-compact style, 60min chronograph counter at the 12 o’clock position, alarm sub dial at the 6 o’clock position and running seconds subdial at the 9 o’clock position. This movement is housed in a 43mm wide, 10mm thick highly polished rose gold tone stainless steel case. Having the entire case polished gives the timepiece a very dressy look. Protected by a sapphire crystal and a 100m depth rating, the Dyno chronograph is a sports influence classic watch with the tech specs to back it up. The crown located at the 3 o’clock position is flanked by the start/stop pump style pusher at the 2 o’clock position and the reset pump style pusher at the 4 o’clock position. A crown located at the 10 o’clock position of the case is used to operate the slide ruler located along the inner bezel

The dial is laid out very cleanly and is highly readable, important and difficult to achieve for a watch with a high number of complications. Lumed pencil style hands point to lumed bar markers, with are both in rose gold tone. Small amount of red accents populate the dial, the “100m” font, along with key numbers on the slide ruler for ease of use. The final dressy detail for the Dyno are the glossy leather bands with matching rose gold tone clasps. Choosing to have the watch mounted on leather ensure that the Dyno is a dress watch and should be taken as such.
