Back in Stock: The Contemporary FER2400CN0 New Bambino

_DSC2267 - CopyThe Bambino has been the bread and butter of Orient’s classic watch lineup. With that in mind redesigns are not taken lightly, instead they are carefully considered and fully thought out. the FER2400BW0 uses the tried and trued base of the Bambino and makes subtle alterations to create a new unique timepiece. Against the stainless steel case and white dial sits rose gold tone hands and matching rose gold markers. These are the features that immediately stand out on the BW Bambino. The choice of using rose gold tone gives the Bambino another subtle level in the vintage motif. Remaining the same in the BW Bambino is the ORIENT in house caliber 48743 automatic movement with the date complication. Housing the movement is the 40.5mm stainless steel case, which is equipped with a 30m depth rating, ideal for a dress watch not intended to see much water. The brushed case sides give the watch a modern dress look and feel and contrast lovely with the polished beveled bezel and top of the lugs. This contrast adds dimensionality to the watch, both physically and visually. Resting on top of the case protecting the domed white dial is the domed crystal, both are hallmarks of vintage styling. Even with the highly domed crystal, the watch measures in at 11.8mm thick, easily slipping under a cuff. The new design features on the BW include the hands, dial markers, and crown. The dauphine hands have been thinned for a much sleeker set of hands. Roman numerals and bars have replaced the tapered indices, which gives the watch an elegant appeal to match the new hands. Along the outer dial is the railroad minute track, another common design cue from mid century watches. The track helps frame the face of the watch. Dropped from original Bambino is the black outline around the date window. This works to declutter the dial and let the date blend into the dial. Moving from the dial, the BW has an updated onion style crown. Another mid century design element which shape also creates ease of use when adjusting the watch. This crown compliments the style developed over the dial. The BW has been mounted to a brown leather band to complete the classic dress look.
