It’s no secret that the ‘all black’ or ‘blacked out’ look has been popular in modern culture. From cars to watches, it’s become pretty popular. Orient Watch created their own interpretation of this simple style motif and made it their own in the FTV00001B quartz chronograph. This behemoth of a watch has been treated with IP coating for a sleek, matte black look.
The problem with most all black watches is that they’re not legible (and more of a fashion piece). Orient however used a dark metallic blue to outline the hands, hour markers and date window. The fence post hand set is lumed at the tip as well in a stark white. Because the color is metallic, it easily reflects off and shines in any kind of light that it touches, making for an unexpectedly easy to read dial. Each subdial is ingrained in the dial with a concentric circle graining. The chronograph registers at the six o’clock and nine o’clock are labeled with a silky black metal frame. The big date display at the top of the dial is a feature we know that fans of the brand have been longing for for quite some time. The white numerals against the black frame make it extremely easy to spot.
The Orient Enterprise is undoubtedly a large watch, and at 45mm it is one of the largest that Orient has to offer. The beefy, IP black case offers 100m of water resistance and a screwed down crown. The fixed bezel features very masculine, sporty grooves that add to the aggressiveness of the piece as a whole.
The Orient FTV00001B retails at $550 MSRP, but can be had for only $280 after using code ‘bigdate’ at check out. This code is also applicable to the rest of the Enterprise collection. This offer ends February 17, 2014.
