The newest chronograph from Orient’s Sport Collection is the FTT11002B0 Captain, in black. This sporty quartz chronograph should be a great tool that will withstand the fall and winter season, and the incredible styling will push its way into your watch rotation for years to come. Without a doubt, the FTT11002B is a must have this season.
The one element that is instantly noticeable is the high contrast of the entire face. The white markers against the black (including the bezel) instantly increases the readability. The dial itself is entirely matte black. Let’s break down the functions: at the three o’clock position is a standard date window. The chronograph movement takes up the top and bottom sub dials, with the top being for measuring time at 1/20th of a second, and the bottom measuring hours and minutes elapsed. The left hand sub dial is for the seconds. The hour and minute hands are picket fence shaped and have luminescent material. The lumed, skinny third hand is a part of the chronograph and will tick with each second elapsed. Along with the third hand, the hour markers are all lumed as well. A nifty tachymeter is featured in the chapter ring.
The saw tooth stainless steel bezel really caps the look and masculinity of the Orient Captain. Large, bold Arabic numerals enunciate the minutes. The large bezel pip will surely remind you when you started timing. The case is 45mm in diameter and is actually very beefy. This may come as a surprise considering most quartz watches are fairly skinny. The three o’clock crown is screwed down by design and is signed with the Orient logo.
The Orient FTT11002B retails at $330, but with code ‘fall2013’ it can be purchased for $231 with free shipping!
