Field Day: The Return of the Orient field watch!

The field watch has been known to blur the lines between the quintessential tool watch and the casual sport timepiece. They have also been known for their versatile nature in both wearability and functionality. And while Orient Watch has boasted a wide collection that encompasses all kinds of watches, it is proud to have its most popular field watch back in stock: The field watch, available in matte black (FET0N002B0) and in the elusive grey dial (FET0N002K0). In short, it’s the everyday watch you’ve been looking for. The overall design of the watch is very much military inspired. Military watches were highlighted by their functionality as well as pristine legibility, both of which are very clearly defined by the field watch's high dial contrast and three additional movement functions: day, date, and 24 hour indication. The two sub dials sport a concentric graining that add style and dimension to the matte dial. The lume on the hour indexes and all three hands is strong and vibrant. Additionally, the chapter ring of the dial marks time in 1/5th of second intervals which helps cement the military look on an otherwise casual field watch. The case of the field watch is surely distinctive for Orient’s vast catalog. The use of blasted stainless steel casts a cool, silver smooth aura around the entire piece. The case itself promotes the wearability of watch: at only 42mm wide and 12mm thick, it’s been engineered to fit comfortably on the wrist. The crown has also been conveniently placed at the four o’clock position which reduces the risk of it digging into the wrist— a common problem when the crown is placed at the traditional 3 o’clock point. With its 100m water resistance (reinforced with a screwed-down crown), the field watch can handle the shower, a dip in the pool and even skin diving. Housed within the case is Orient’s own caliber 46B40 movement. This robust, in house made movement provides a different kind of “triple calendar” functionality to the watch, as previously mentioned. The two models come mounted on a very comfortable pebble leather strap, complete with white contrast stitching and a matching blasted stainless steel buckle. We’ve found that the lighter padding in the strap cuts down on the break in period of the strap, making the field watch ready to wear straight out of the box. Both are priced at $250.
