STZ00001 SPEEDTECH CHRONO.Still031

The automotive world has always been a place to find broad design inspiration and fortunately in the case of the Orient Speedtech Chronograph, the inspiration and be directly traced back to the Subaru BRZ GT300.

The Speedtech Chrono is a quartz powered sports chronograph capable of measuring time at 1/100th of a second for up to 40 minutes thanks to the caliber KEF00 movement which features the date complication. At the 6 o’clock position, the 40 minute register pays direct homage to the BRZ’s speedometer. The Speedtech logo plate at the 3 o’clock position was designed to pay respect to the STI name plate on the BRZ while the carbon fiber joint on the bracelet was inspired by the GT300’s front grill.

Available in two dial variations, both employ classic racing color schemes, black with orange accents and blue with red accents, the latter are the racing colors of Subaru. These color combinations allow for a great distinction between hands, makers and subdials, perfect for quick reference, ideal for the racecar world. Wrapped along the inner bezel is the tachymeter in white against the black or blue dial, essential for calculating speed or distance.

Protecting this dial is a scratch resistant sapphire crystal with AR coating and housing the dial is robust 100m 46mm case. Manufactured from both stainless steel and aluminum, Orient was able to employ Subaru’s signature blue color in the aluminum ring along the outer bezel of the watch for added flair. Located at the 2 and 4 o’clock positions are the chronograph pushers. The pushers slowly rise from the case to seamlessly flow into the crown guards for a sleek aerodynamic look, fitting for a motFinorsports inspired piece. To further enhance the style and tie the Speedtech Chrono closer to the BRZ, a carbon fiber piece has been added to the joint section of the bracelet designed to be in the image of the GT300’s hexagonal front grill, which draws the eye from the case to the stainless steel bracelet. The Stainless steel bracelet is solid in construction and features sturdy solid end links.
