The ongoing success and popularity of the classic Contemporary Classic series has carried it through multiple redesigns and meaningful feature upgrades. Each model has never looked like the last, however one thing was always certain: it would be a three-hander with a date, domed crystal, and domed dial. Such was the winning formula for one of our longest running watch collections to date. But as with any new watch design, we wanted to try something different, and thus the RA-AP00 SS was created.

Yes, this entirely new version has features never-before-seen on a Contemporary Classic. For starters, instead of a long seconds hand, it features a small seconds display at the 6 o’clock position (hence the “SS” demarcation). This subregister has been embellished with a concentric design which contrasts beautifully with the existing sunburst dial. The RA-AP00 SS is also the only Contemporary Classic to date to feature Arabic numeral hour markers (the Version 2 has Roman numerals), posted at twelve, three, six and nine. And akin to the versions two and three, the SS opted for a borderless date display.

Where the RA-AP00 SS converges with the rest of the Contemporary Classic collection is with its domed dial, domed crystal and overall size. The dimensions are nearly identical to its predecessors at 40.5mm wide and 12mm thick. Another first for a Contemporary Classic is a see through, exhibition case back. The watch is powered by the new caliber F6222 mechanical movement, a variant of the caliber F6724 that runs the rest of the line. The RA-AP00 SS offers an entirely different look to a classic staple. While certainly not an out-of-the-box design, it pays homage to the classic watch design with an updated contemporary feel. The RA-AP00 SS is available in Rose Gold, White Steel, Champagne, Yellow Gold, and Black Steel.
