Introducing the New Orient Star Basic Date

Between the eye-catching starburst dial and Sallaz-polished case, the Orient Star Basic Date looks anything but basic. Whether it’s being worn during that once-in-a-lifetime interview or that future trip abroad, you are guaranteed to leave an impression with this dynamic timepiece on your wrist.

Similar in style to the popular Orient Star Classic, this more durable and sporty-looking watch sits at 42mm wide and just 11.5mm thick. The sunburst dial features a 50-hour power reserve indicator at the 12:00 position and a date window adjacent to the 3:00 hour marker. Its long, dauphine hands and bar indices are intentionally on the large side in order to increase readability while still maintaining a clean look, and the beautiful Sallaz polishing of the case results in a mirror-like appearance. Sallaz polishing is used to finish steel parts of a watch to create a high-gloss surface. This technique reduces any distortions in order to reflect light evenly and is found on a number of pieces from the Orient Star collection.

On top, the watch features a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective (AR) coating. The 22-jeweled Orient caliber F6N43 (also seen in Orient Star Outdoor field watch) powers this model and the inner workings can be viewed through the mineral glass exhibition case back.

The Orient Star Basic Date is available in 4 colorways – White, Black, Blue, and Grey. Each model comes on a stainless steel bracelet.
