One of the newest releases from Orient Watch USA is the DW08 collection, appropriately nicknamed the ‘Eminence’ line. The DW08 truly lives up to its namesake especially when considering its materials, design, and most importantly, cost. At first glance, the Eminence looks extraordinary, but a closer look reveals much more than just the shine of the polished stainless steel case. Similar to the DB08, the DW08 is semi-skeleton by design, and instead of a circular open heart, the Eminence features a curved semi-sphere window. It is definitely more subtle than the circle in the DB08 model, and considering the very simple-yet-elegant sunburst dial, it is understandable why Orient chose this shape. Simply put, it works well. Everything about the Eminence is not over-bearing, but classy. Its hands are triangular dauphine styled hands that are lifted to provide that little extra sheen and glimmer as it is passed through the light. To top it all off, the Eminence is covered by a sapphire crystal, making it very scratch and wear resistant. The case of the DW08004B is all fully polished stainless steel which is a brilliant touch and truly makes the watch appear to be worth more than it actually costs. Something to note is that gold and rose gold tone versions will be available at a later time. The Eminence measures at 41mm (without the crown) wide and 11.8mm thick. Its lug width is 22mm, and its length lug-to-lug is about 46.2mm. The case back is exhibition styled and gives the wearer a look at the Orient 48D40 movement, which is one of the newer in-house calibers. A striking feature is the decorated oscillating weight complete with a textured ribbing: something seen more often on watches sold for ten times the price. The DW08004B retails at $395 MSRP, but by using a 30% promotional code, it can be yours for around $275.
