Orient x STi: A Collaboration of Toughness and Detail

In 2010, Orient teamed up with Subaru Tecnica International (STi) to develop solid mechanical watches that, like STi’s vehicles, have a reliable, tough, and detailed Japanese engine.

STi specializes in the preparation of vehicles for the Subaru World Rally Team, which competed in the World Rally Championship until 2008. For the past few years, Orient Watch, in addition to developing watches, has sponsored STi in the Nuebergring 24-hour Race.

This past spring, the dashboard of the Subaru WRX STi, which entered the race, was equipped with Orient’s limited edition, shock-resistant mechanical M-Force.

M-Force proved its durability and reliability by keeping accurate time for the full 24-hour race, overcoming Nuebergring’s challenging racecourse.

Want more on the M-Force? Check out these favorite features:

Hackable & Hand-Winding

If you thought that Orient’s in-house movements couldn’t get better, they did with the cal. 40N5A hackable and hand-winding movement in the M-Force. This movement is also equipped with a 40-hour power reserve indicator, which resembles a fuel gauge, and a date indicator.

Luminescence

Without luminescence, the M-Force wouldn’t have been much help during much of the 24-hour race. However, M-Force is fully-loaded with lume at each hour index and on each watch hand. Wear this watch confidently, day or night.

Sapphire Crystal

In addition to being built solid with a stainless steel case and watch band, a safety clasp, and a superior movement, M-Force also features sapphire crystal glass over the dial. Sapphire is super scratch-resistant and also anti-reflective.

What else?

We love the racing motif that’s apparent on the M-Force. In addition to the aforementioned power reserve indicator that resembles a fuel gauge, M-Force also features a carbon fiber dial.

Of course, M-Force wouldn’t be complete without 200m water resistance (a real diver!), a screwed-down crown for added security and water resistance, and a special engraving on the case back to recognize the Orient x STI partnership, the Nuebergring race, and the drivers (Yoshida, Sasaki, Engels, van Dam, and Team Manager Tatsumi).

Keep in mind, the M-Force is a limited edition watch, so get it while you still can!

In addition to M-Force, Orient x STi offers some other special watches including the M-Force 2011, the STi Commuter, and the quartz STi 2011. Visit Orient Watch USA to learn more about them!
