We absolutely love the styling and craftsmanship on this piece and we think that you’ll love it as well.
We couldn’t possibly start talking about an Orient Watch without starting with the dial. The dial of the SEL05004W is of a pearlescent white, which gets its shimmer and opulence from the sunburst dial. Mounted stainless steel hour markers are set meticulously upon the satin dial, with black hash marks running between each one (to denote minutes). The thin dauphine hands are slick and pointy, and the downward sloping edges really exhibit the quality craftsmanship that truly embodies Orient Star. The power reserve at the twelve o’clock features a similar arrow hand and grained hour counter. Please keep in mind that the dial is slightly domed to match the box crystal.
The case of the watch is fully polished and its gentle lines breathe fluidity and elegance to the overall watch: from its soft sloping (and drilled) lugs to its beveled edges. The case size is 38.5mm in diameter, which really cements the classic nature of the piece. The Orient Star Classic is one of the smallest watches currently available from Orient. Another key feature to the watch is the onion style crown, which is signed with the Orient Star logo. The screw exhibition case back proudly accentuates the in house caliber 40N52 movement, which is both automatic and hand winding, as well as hacking. The movement is beautifully dressed with ribbing and Orient Star branding.
The SEL05004W comes on a 20mm black leather strap that features a special Orient Star buckle. The strap is alligator stamped and is also branded on the back side. The strap is skinny and ample—we believe it to be the highest quality strap that Orient has offered in recent years.
The EL05004W retails at $640. However, with code ‘fall2013’, the watch can be purchased for only $448. We definitely feel that the Orient Star Classic is a must have in all aspects!
