In the modern age, we’ve noticed a bit less of a market for gold and gold color watches among men. Sure, women tout their oversized rose gold watches, and baby boomers cling to their retirement gifted gold pieces, but to millennials and generation Y-ers alike, the idea of a gold watch seems too gaudy and overcompensating. The latest Orient Star Classic however, is the rule breaker. Its vintage inspired, gold tone hue romanticizes the union between young and old. And at its price it could be the turning point for a young professional to upgrade his look.
The Orient Star Classic SEL05001S0 is a slender dress watch with all the details and complications that make it a competitor amongst higher priced options. Much of the styling on the watch scream classic: everything from the onion styled crown, to its dauphine hands and 38.5mm diameter. The case, hand set and hour markers are all made of a rich gold tone. The domed crystal and dial certainly add a bit more dimension and style. The case back on the watch is see through and reveals the fully decorated Orient in house caliber 40N52 movement that is automatic and hand winding as well as hacking. This high caliber movement features a date and power reserve indicator complication, something of which seems devoid in much of the industry today. This particular model of the Orient Star Classic comes on a very comfortable croc printed brown leather band that has a matching gold tone buckle that bears the Orient Star logo.
We love the new SEL05001S Orient Star Classic because it packs a huge punch in a slim, classic case. We love it even more because of its fantastic price. It is certainly one of our favorite gold toned watches. This model retails at $650.-
