The Advancer - A functional yet handsomely dressed sports watch

Orient’s new ER2800 (“Advancer”) series is sure to draw some looks.  Equipped with Orient’s renowned ER movement, this sports watch also features rich styling that fits well into Orient’s collection of affordable mechanical watches.

The Advancer may seem to the naked eye a simple three-hand-and-date watch, but it is quite a bit more than that. The most eye catching feature is seen in the dial. Elegant pinstripes adorn the center of the dial that greatly complements the bold color in its hands. The date wheel is semi-exposed and is windowed with a stainless steel frame. The Stainless steel bar indices provide a conservative glimmer— something normally found in dress watches. The dark stainless steel outer bezel makes the watch very sporty: the visible screws are a nice touch that gives off a contemporary vibe. The Advancer comes in two dial colors – black and white. Each is as classic as the other.

The case is a fully polished stainless steel and measures at 42.5mm without the crown. The watch is fairly large: the case is also 13mm thick. The case featured drilled in lug holes, which make it easier to change the band. The Advancer comes on very solid stainless steel band that has polished and brushed links . The fold over clasp includes a safety lock as well. The case back is indeed an exhibition which allows the wearer to see the dressed 48749 movement.

Priced at $350 MSRP (but $245 after use of code fall2012), the Advancer is a lot of watch for the money. Sporty yet elegant, this is a fantastic everyday watch.
