The newest addition to the Orient Chronograph collection is the FTT0J003W0 “Leader” series. This particular model uses Orient’s reliable quartz movement. With a slew of colors and variety of materials used in this model, it is easily one of the most unique releases of the year.
The new Orient Leader is truly a watch that isn’t just defined by the presence of the dial. The racing inspired dial is white in base color with a very prominent brushed stainless steel overlay that runs across the diameter. The chronograph sub dials are at the top and bottom, with one in white and one in black. The top sub dial measures the seconds to the accuracy of 1/20 of a second and is highlighted with red accent markers. The bottom dial is the stop watch seconds and minute hands and has grey markers up against a stamped black background. You can start and stop the chronograph with the two o’clock pusher and reset with the four o’clock pusher. In addition to the chronograph movement, this model features a date function. The spear hands are a glossy blue and a tachymeter runs along the chapter ring. Note that the stationary bezel is black and matching the screwed down crown and chronograph pushers.
The case is rated at 100m water resistance and the size is measured at 43.50mm. The second most impressive feature is the bracelet. The bracelet is a fancy combination of polished and brushed metal and is placed in alternating hexagonal links. Orient nailed the execution of the bracelet. Additionally, the lug holes are drilled which is another nifty feature.
In all, the TT0J003W Orient Leader is a winner in our books. The diverse amount of color and materials is something new from Orient and is a fantastic indicator of things to come. The FTT0J003W0 Orient Leader is priced at $440 ($308 with code ‘summer2013’).
