This week in review - The New Orient Pilot's Watch!

New to Orient’s line up is the ER2A series, the “pilot's watch” model. In the flesh, it is an aviator-type watch, but really, it is Orient's take on the quintessential, classic Pilot's watch. Many of the visual and stylistic cues pay homage to the classic watches that came before it. Photobucket As a whole, the pilot's watch is a very, very simple watch. With large, very legible Arabic numerals, three hands and a date window at three o’clock the pilot's watch is modernity at its best. Though outer ring of the dial numbers in the classic pilot’s progression, the slight inner ring has reads time in a more traditional sense. The hands are long and skinny, as is the seconds hand. Luminescent material has been applied to every numeral on the outer ring, in addition to the hour and minute hand. As you can see from the photos, the luminescence is very, very bright, and is comparable to the impressive lume also seen on the Orient EM65 . The watch is water resistant up to 100m, and does feature a screwed-down crown. The case is a handsome brushed stainless steel throughout and the case back is a screw-type. Measuring in at around 45mm with the crown, the piece definitely has a great size, and with 22mm lugs, is a prime candidate for strap swapping. A classic pilot’s watch would not be complete without a leather strap. We laced the pilot's watch model with a thick, genuine leather strap to complete the look. The buckle on the strap is a nice brushed stainless that matches perfectly with the texture in the casing. The pilot's watch is offered in a variety of color combinations. Some that definitely stand out are the cream dial with the brown strap, blue dial and brown strap and green dial in IP-black. In addition to the classic black and white, these additional colors already look like instant classic and will fit as perfectly on your wrist as in your collection. The pilot's watch model is exclusively available at Long Island Watch! Please check out the full collection at their website here.
